Teen Dating Violence: Information and Resources by National Resource Centre on Domestic Violence (2004)

Teens Educating and Confronting Homophobia (T.E.A.C.H.)
This Planned Parenthood of Toronto (PPT) program uses an anti-oppression approach to deliver high-quality anti-homophobia peer-education activities in high schools and community settings across Toronto. Emphasizing skills building and partnership, T.E.A.C.H. trains dynamic youth-peer facilitators to lead anti-homophobia activities that encourage participants to think critically about homophobia and heterosexism in their communities and the issues faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered youth. T.E.A.C.H. activities include:

•      workshops: peer education and service-provider training

•     resource development: brochures, booklets, and online resources

     outreach: to community organizations, other PPT programs, agencies serving diverse communities, and youth/special events such as Toronto Pride

•      partnerships: formal and informal with community-based organizations across Toronto serving LGBT youth

•     volunteer opportunities: to develop facilitation skills and anti-oppression analysis; learn about violence prevention; and enhance public-speaking skills

Hear Me Out: True Stories of Teens Educating and Confronting Homophobia (2005)
Courageous, powerful, and compelling, this anthology of true stories addresses experiences ranging from isolating and frightening to empowering and joyous. First-person accounts by T.E.A.C.H. volunteers talk about the specific challenges of growing up ‘queer,’ detailing the emotional roller coaster of negotiating sexual and gender identities, coming out, and the harassment, homophobia, and bullying that often follow. Creating Safer Schools for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Youth: A Resource for Educators (2002 Revised Edition)
Developed by educators, school administrators, parents, guidance counselors, and equity workers, and coordinated by Joanne Bacon of EWA, this resource includes strategies for incorporating anti-homophobia education into equity and anti-violence programming and addresses how teachers can deal with homophobic violence and overcome barriers to starting anti-homophobia work in schools and communities. Helping Students Manage Violence. A Resource Guide for Educators (2001)
This Women’s Habitat guide provides educators with tools to develop programs on bullying, conflict resolution, anger management, peer mediation, and healthy relationships, and provides age-appropriate education on woman abuse and the effects on children of witnessing abuse. Healthy Relationships: Peers Helping Peers on Issues of Dating Violence (2000)
By Women’s Habitat, based on their highly successful school-based program, this 11-session training manual is geared to helping high-school teachers prepare senior students for roles as peer helpers on issues of healthy dating relationships. Code 09.10 $40
 

I WITNESS: Children Exposed to Domestic Violence (2003)
A video developed by Counterpoint Counselling, Partner Assault Response Program, and the Cheche Child and Family Centre to strengthen families and promote optimal child development by engaging male perpetrators of domestic violence in understanding the effects of their violence on their children.
