Teens Educating and
Confronting Homophobia (T.E.A.C.H.)
This Planned
Parenthood of Toronto (PPT) program uses an
anti-oppression approach to deliver high-quality
anti-homophobia peer-education activities in
high schools and community settings across
Toronto. Emphasizing skills building and
partnership, T.E.A.C.H. trains dynamic
youth-peer facilitators to lead anti-homophobia
activities that encourage participants to think
critically about homophobia and heterosexism in
their communities and the issues faced by
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered youth.
T.E.A.C.H. activities include:
•
workshops: peer education and
service-provider training
• resource
development: brochures, booklets, and online
resources
•
outreach: to community organizations, other
PPT programs, agencies serving diverse
communities, and youth/special events such as
Toronto Pride
•
partnerships: formal and informal with
community-based organizations across Toronto
serving LGBT youth
•
volunteer opportunities: to develop
facilitation skills and anti-oppression
analysis; learn about violence prevention; and
